Are you looking for a new way to get outdoors and be active or find something you can enjoy together with the family?
If the answer is yes, Hykeham Sailing Club, just south of Lincoln, is inviting you and your family to come and try dinghy sailing for free on Saturday 20th May.
Push the Boat Out is an Royal Yachting Association (RYA) initiative which was first created as part of the RYA Sail for Gold Programme which was launched in March 2011.
Whether you’re completely new to the sport or looking to get back on the water, RYA Push the Boat Out is the perfect time to give it a go.
This nine day nationwide event will see hundreds of people taking part in the sport with open days and taster sessions taking place at sailing clubs and centres across the country.
“We’re inviting the local community to come down to have a go at dinghy sailing, see what Our Club has to offer and get involved. Who knows, you might just get hooked.” commented Peter Bayliss, Training Officer.
“Starting at 12 noon, on Saturday 20th May, everyone is welcome to visit our dinghy sailing club, see the facilities, meet members and discover how easy it can be to take up this absorbing pastime.
“There will be an opportunity for short trips on the water with our experienced helms, weather permitting. Please remember to bring a pair of old soft shoes please, a change of clothes and towel, although we promise to try very hard not to get you wet.”
Sailing can be as physical or as relaxing as you want to make it, you can sail with others or on your own, do it competitively or potter about and just enjoy the gentle escape of being outside in the elements.
